In era of restraint, locals embrace BayÆs æLabor Day Free For AllÆ Free fish, ice cream and poker help Iron Range residents take a break from hard work TOWER, MN û In an era of cutting coupons and corners, Fortune BayÆs annual ôLabor Day Free For Allö may be just what the doctor ordered. The Sept. 7 celebration allows hard-working locals to kick back and relax, enjoying free food and free entertainment. The celebration begins at noon and ends at 10pm, starting with a free fish fry, followed by a free backjack tournament at 3pm, a free ice cream sundae bar from 4-8pm and free bingo at 5pm and 7pm, plus a free poker tournament at 6:30pm. ôWe always enjoy celebrating holidays with our neighbors, but this one means a little more, given the region and the times,ö said Fortune Bay General Manager Norm Adams. ôThe Iron Range has a proud tradition of hard-working people, and we want to acknowledge their work and invite them to take a well-deserved break. We know theyÆve been cutting back in this recession and that a few free treats go a long way right now.ö The economic times have been tough Adams added, and itÆs good to draw people together for a lighter occasion. ôWe have all worked hard, and now itÆs time to relax, enjoy the end of summer and a day off work.ö
